We were here. Fun
community open house at The Salvation Army Freedom Center in Chicago.
Stick around for a while and you get to volunteer. Just chillin’
and meeting the wonderful people from the neighborhood. This was an easy
assignment following a day of pulling weeds in the many gardens and helping get
prizes ready for children’s games.
Master event organizer, daughter-in-law Nancy, who worked
many hours to plan and schedule – even scheduling me to volunteer.
Son, Merrill (middle), award-winning Pitmaster, with his helpers. They did enough chicken and pulled pork to feed a thousand
people.
Massive beast, “Lil’
Red,” with which Merrill smokes meats.
You never know who you might meet if you hang out in Chicago
for a while. Yep, we met beautiful and incredibly nice, Hoda.
Thanks Majors Merrill and Nancy Powers for your ministry in Chicago. Proud of you!
